At an interpreting scene
Instructions for quotation Consecutive interpretation:
1. Work hours: 8 hours/day/interpreter (except simultaneous interpreter).
2. Extra hours will be considered as overtime and subject to additional charges.
3. Price may be renegotiated for some special industries and rarely used languages.
4. Additional meeting minutes and translation services provided during the interpretation will be subject to additional charges.
Simultaneous interpretation:
1. Please make an appointment at least one or two weeks in advance for large international conferences.
2. Work hours: 6 hours/day. Less than 3 hours will be regarded as half day, while more than 3 but less than 6 hours will be regarded as one day. Extra hours will be considered as overtime and subject to additional charges.
3. We will provide the best equipment for simultaneous interpretation and is responsible for the technical support at the site.
A. Professional ethics: any unique or private information obtained by the interpreter during the interpreting task shall be kept confidential and not be disclosed to public without the client’s consent or necessary legal procedures. Meanwhile, the client shall not assign additional tasks to the interpreter without informing the company, or negotiate with the interpreter about the interpretation fee.
B. Safety guarantee: the client shall take all practical and effective measures to ensure the personal and property safety of the interpreter, and shall truthfully inform the interpreter of relevant precautions. Furthermore, the client shall provide the interpreter with necessary food and drink and reasonable break time to avoid decreasing work efficiency.
C. Preparation: for some highly specialized tasks, the interpreter may require sufficient time to read relevant manuscripts or materials in advance to ensure interpreting quality, unless the client does not require so. The preparation time may be charged additionally equaling to one-day’s interpreting fee; the client has the obligation to provide relevant materials in advance; the preparation time is usually: 2 days for business interpretation, 3 days for conferences, and 7 days for simultaneous interpretation.
D. Change of task: the client shall compensate the interpreter if they require to postpone or cancel the interpreting task (as the interpreter may lose other job opportunities at the same day) based on the following standard: free of charge if informing 5 days in advance; compensation of half-day’s interpreting fee if informing 2 days in advance; compensation of one-day’s interpreting fee if informing less than 2 days in advance.
E. Traffic allowance: we may charge the traffic allowance in order to compensate the interpreter for any loss of other potential income during transportation. If the transportation takes 2-6 hours, we will charge 50% of the basic interpreting fee per hour, if the transportation takes more than 6 hours, we will charge 80% of the basic interpreting fee per day; the client shall bear the accommodation, transportation, and other related expenses of the interpreter.
F. Interpreting fee: the interpreting fee may vary according to the competence and experience of the interpreter, the complexity of the task, and related work conditions. Generally we have an overall quotation for all interpreting tasks. The basic interpreting fee is charged based on one 8-hour workday (including reasonable breaks), and 150% of the basic fee per hour will be charged for overtime exceeding 1 hour. According to national regulations, we will charge 200% of the basic fee per day during weekends, and 300% of the basic fee per day during national holidays.
G. Payment: the client shall settle all payments before the translation task completes. If the task exceeds one month, the payments shall be settled during the task on monthly basis. All expenses and liabilities incurred due to overstay of the interpreter caused by the client's failure to settle the payments on time shall be borne by the client.
